Shea scores twice to lead Dallas over San Jose

06/05/2010 - Frisco, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brek Shea scored twice in a two-minute stretch of the second half and FC Dallas beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 on Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park.

Shea scored the opener in the 58th minute and added his second in the 60th, as Dallas (3-2-6) won for the third time this season against just two losses.

San Jose (5-4-2) lost for the second time in its last three games and has just one win in its last five overall.

David Ferreira and Heath Pearce set up Shea's opening goal, which he sent past San Jose goalie Joe Cannon from the middle of the area. Ferreira made the last pass from the left end line, and Shea easily converted.

Shea's second goal of the match and third of the season was unassisted. He won the ball from San Jose defender Chris Leitch in the area, then tapped the ball past a charging Cannon from just outside the six-yard box.

Kevin Hartman made two saves for Dallas for his third shutout of the season in just seven starts.

San Jose returns from the two-week MLS World Cup break on June 25 at Real Salt Lake. FC Dallas returns on June 26 at Chivas USA.

More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.

Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
