Bordeaux tries to take positives from CL exit

Soccer Betting Lines

04/09/2010 - Paris, France (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Bordeaux's 1-0 win over Lyon in the return leg of their Champions League quarterfinal was not enough to help the club advance to the last four, but defender Matthieu Chalme is telling his teammates to take the positives from the game.

Bordeaux's 3-1 loss to Lyon in the first leg prevented them from reaching the semifinals, but Chalme feels as though his team is still the one to beat in the league.

"There's disappointment but at the same time there are a lot of positives to take," Chalme told the club's official website.

"We'll have to replicate that kind of performance in the league to meet the objectives of the club.

"We still hold all the aces because we still have matches in hand.

"Starting with the match in Paris, we'll have to have a big week."

The defending champions enter the weekend in fifth place, but they trail leaders Marseille by only three points with a game in hand, while a trio of teams, Lyon, Montpellier and Auxerre, lead Bordeaux by just one point with two more games played.

Bordeaux will visit PSG on Saturday and then face second-from-the-bottom Le Mans on Wednesday, meaning that they could take over the top spot by midweek with the right results.

Marseille moved to the top of the table on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Sochaux, and they will try to remain there through the weekend with a win over Nice on Sunday.

Before facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals next week, Lyon will host a Lille side that is still in contention for a top-three spot, while Auxerre travels to Nancy and Montpellier visits Le Mans.

Valenciennes travels to Monaco, Boulogne tries to keep its survival hopes alive with a win at Lens, Rennes travels to Lorient, Sochaux entertains St Etienne and last-placed Grenoble invades Toulouse.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds

With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.

Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season.  Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.

This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy.  A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
